Wait, this was been a partially indoors seating section this whole time? Mind blown (minorly).
The Citroen ZX with the scuffed up bumper is an interesting one. It really looks rather wide for its height in that photo.
What’s the high roof VW van? The great unapologetic blue color led my eye to it.

That’s the coolest eating room I’ve ever seen. I’d eat there.

It’s not the “ usual” spot even if the chairs are the same :)
The VW is a Caddy (it’s like a Kangoo or a Partner/Berlingo for example).
—
And as a continuation to the previous DOTS there is a light pearlescent blue Megane 2 (the color has light yellow reflections in bright light), at least 3 champagne colored cars (including a Citroë n Picasso) and a red first gen Peugeot 208 but this time it’s not a “L ike” version with white accent .

Yes but there is a Dacia Duster and a Citroën C5 Estate on the same picture and even a Seat Córdoba Vario (wagon) which are getting extremely rare.

I usually eat there most of the time at noon, a bit less lately as we are less at work and others tend to go less out to eat .
Unfortunately the “convertible” roof of the veranda has a defect so they can’t close it completely when there is rain and it will only be changed at the end of the month so unfortunately the room is not usable at the moment when it’s raining and cold except a few tables if you don’t care about the temperature (which i did to drink my pint of Vedett IPA and take those pictures) .

What country is this in? If it was like, high 50s, low 60s, I think it might be pleasant to have a hot coffee and light breakfast outside.

It’s in France and it was in the 14-15°C so arou nd 60°F but it was still slightly raining an d vaguely windy so it was not ideal, i also like rain and lower temps and would definitely choose this over a sunny 30 °C or over day but i wasn’t mad to go inside to eat my extra-rare beef filet with mushroom sauce with sauté vegetables and homemade french fries then a rhubarb tart .

one of the best meals I ever had was in France. The food was good (well great but wasn’ t the important part) but we were out under an overhang which it downpo ured with thunder and lightning. It was unusually warm so we were dry and comfy eating watching the storm pass thru the beautiful city

Close enough. Or not. The c hampa gne colored C3 Picasso made me figure they were in close proximity and had to be the same car.
“VW Caddy” calls to mind a very different sort of car. Weird they’d use that name on a small practical van. I like it though.
What’s the orange SUV in the first photo? I kinda like it. Looks a lot like the current Ranger from the front.

The orange “SUV” is a Dacia Duster :)
And the blue driving car on this photo is a Renault Zoe (electric).

So it’s not an SUV? Or are SUVs just social constructs? Why the quotation marks? Unless it’s a CUV.
Hmmm, how can you tell it’s an electric Zoe from that photo?

This color is quite common on those Zoé and the rear side windows and lights are quite distinctive :
While sold as a “SUV” and available with AWD, to me the Duster is a CUV (it’s about the width and length of a Golf and based on a front-forward architecture with at most 150hp) :

It really helps car identification when a model has a certain iconic color. The blues are good!
Awww, the Duster thinks it’s a Jeep Renegade. Cute, though why you’d imitate a Renegade is beyond me. And that plastic fender strake is really off-putting.
I really wonder if you’d have as much trouble identifying cars in an American parking lot. Let’s test this.
Not many parking lots around here in the big city but I give you a 35% chance of getting this one. Partially obscured for difficulty.

The first gen of Duster started in 2010, 4 or 5 years before the Renegade so it’s not a copy of it :
And an important note is that (according to both official French websites), the Duster starts at 12,490€ while the Renegade starts at 24,100€ (both including 20% VAT) so about the double.
T he most expensive trim level (Série Limitée 15 Ans) of the Duster with the most expensive engine (TCe 150hp with a manual and 4x4) cost 22,050€ (without selecting any additional option).

I would say that it’s some Toyota?

Yes but the Renegade looking taillights didn’t appear until after the Renegade. It debuted with these more boring looking taillights. Though at that price bracket the Duster is pretty tempting if you wanted a CUV.
That is indeed a Toyota. A Highlander to be exact. They’re Toyota’s largest non truck based “SUV”
Here’s a harder one. There weren’t really any cars about so this was the best I saw while out to lunch at my usual spot.

I have no clue about the car on the left but it looks like a malaise era Kia or something similar , the truck is a RAM 2500 or 3500.
A t the intersection there is a Nissan Kicks and an Infiniti SUV (definitely too big to be sold here) and behind the Nissan it might be a Cadillac with chrome wheels.

This is fun. I see why you like it. Admittedly the photo I supplied was absolutely terrible.
I didn’t expect you to get the alphanumeric soup name of the Infiniti QX80 (hate those things) but in what world is a mid 2000s Toyota Camry a malaise era Kia? That era ended in the early 80s. Sorry but that’s about as wrong as it gets.
The Nissan is actually a Rogue. I actually anticipated the error there. They’re quite a bit larger.
And the car behind them is a regular Mazda6 under poor lighting conditions. I think I just chose a crap photo. Can I get a redo?
Here’s a random one from the archives that could be more challenging and more fun. I see this as a sort of test. How much has hanging around an American-centric car forum enlightened you as to the state of boring cars across the pond?

I was not referring to specifically the Kia malaise era but the malaise era of bland sedans in the US that were all “soft” looking and with no real character and gray or white .
—
The first picture it’s a Chevrolet but i don’t know the model (but at least it’s teal) , something like an Impala, behind it’s an Altima i think then behind it’s a Mustang or a Camaro and a Fiesta maybe?
On the right of those it’s a Dodge Caravan then on the right corner there are two Cr uze Cruces without a nice color like yours then a Yaris or a Spark maybe.
—
The second picture, a Cutlass or something like that, maybe.
Behind, it’s definitely a Mustang and a Fiesta , the rest are just pixels !

Hmmmm, bland sedans in the US only? You guys had some pretty bland looking stuff too around the jelly bean era of styling. I’ve always considered it to be a low point in automotive styling but a few interesting designs came out of it. Even if 2000s Nissans couldn’t be said to be very reliable they were much more stylish than their competitors.
As weird as it sounds, that Altima still looks pretty good today.
The classic Chevy Impala I thought was a freebie but you got the Oldsmobile Cutlass right. Now that I think about it, this photo has some weird cars in it. There’s the lightly donked Hyundai Genesis coupe and a bubble Taurus behind the pole on the right. Then there’s a last gen Toyota Matrix which is pretty uncommon. I’m impressed you got the Dodge (maybe Grand) Caravan. I’ve been looking at the white car behind it and it looks like a two door Hyundai Accent hatchback.
The modern Chevy Malibu (left) and Impala (right) have nothing on the style of the torquois machine driving up the ramp.

The Caravan (and it’s Chrysler sister ) is not that hard to guess because it’s more distinctive than most of the cars where there are 3 size of similar sedan or CUV or SUV with similar names that doesn’t mean anything.
—
We almost have no sedan appart from German ones and i can’t think of a popular car here that followed that jellybean styling.
Cars like the Mégane II or the 307 were not good looking but at least they were quite distinctive and couldn't be mistaken for anything else.

For some reason us Americans don’t want to be seen in a hatchback unless it is a CUV. No idea why but it is so. So sedans are still very popular despite the trend towards hatchbacks in disguise.
I have no idea why so many small cars that only made sense as hatchbacks got sedan versions that looked terrible but they exist aplenty here. Enter: the Ford Fiesta. Why does this unhappy vehicle exist? I have no idea.
Even the Mitsu Mirage has a (thankfully) rarely sighted sedan variant called the G4.
The wretched Versa was a particularly egregious example. They didn’t even both to sell us the Micra or a proper hatchback variant.
Fun fact: Ford decided that in the mid 2000s we needed a US only generation of Focus. For some reason, they even designed a coupe and promptly forgot to make very many. There aren’t many around. But this gen actually was pretty great and came as a four and two door hatchback, four door sedan, and a four door wagon despite being North America only.

It might be because hatchback and small looking cars are seen as cheap cars.
In here no n-luxury/sport sedans are seen as dumb as it’s less practical and takes more space for a similar capacity.
For example we have the A3 and S3 (i don’t think the RS3 is still a thing) but no Jetta or similar “cheaper” variant from VW, Skoda and SEAT.
Sedan versions of Clio and Mégane were (i don’t know if there is still such a thing) sold in north-African markets along with Turkey and some eastern- European countries but not in western-Europe.

No one would ever mistake a Fiesta sedan for a Fusion (Mondeo) . One looks good and the other looks dumb.
Yet people want their small cheap cars to be sedans so they are less saddled with stereotypes about small cars. Because hatchbacks are for poors and a sedan makes you look like an office drone instead? IDK.
Y’all don’t get the Jetta? They’re good cars. Though most are work car or sorority girl spec mid trim commuters.
A sensible midsized sedan that can be pretty entertaining in GLI trim. I’m also surprised VW is still sticking to its sleeper luxury guns but with less sleeper-ness with the Arteon. That’s a good looking and surprisingly vast car. I’m pretty sure it’s substantially larger than a modern Impala.
And as much as I like small hatcbacks, midsized or larger compacts can look pretty good as sedans without losing too much practicality. I’ve never actually run out of space in my Cruze even with 5 people and luggage yet people are are always wondering how I could possibly not want a bigger car. Really. Many people can’t wrap their head around how I enjoy a small cheap car or why I would ever want something even smaller.
It’s worth noting that coupes are way more popular in denser environments like Atlanta where I live than in more suburban areas. Hatchbacks, small sedans, even somewhat practical coupes like the Challenger can be seen far more often and there are less CUVs/SUVs around. There are less pickups but still quite a few around.
